The Good News

I will briefly summarize within the next few paragraphs the message of Jesus, which is often called "The Good News".

According to the Bible, in the beginning God created men and women to be in relationship with God. But because of sin there became a separation between God and people. The torment of evil has reined on the earth because of sin. Sin leads to death. But God's plan from the beginning was to send his son Jesus to die for sins, so that by believing, you will be saved.

But, you might ask what does all of this sin, Jesus, and being saved really mean? According to the Bible there is only one God and God is in charge. According to the Bible the one God is revealed in three parts. The three parts are God the Father, God the Son AKA Jesus, and God the Spirit AKA the Holy Spirit. According to the Bible God through Jesus created everything that exists. According to the Bible God has always remained actively involved in creation, including actively drawing people to the truth. OK, but what is sin? Sin is nothing more than rebellion against God's authority. Another way to define sin is living your life without God being in charge. According to the Bible because of the sin of Adam there became a separation between God and people. According to the Bible there was a high ranking angel named Lucifer. Lucifer had a major problem with pride. Lucifer's pride progressed to the point that Lucifer believed he was in charge. Lucifer was cast out of heaven as a result of Lucifer's sin. According to the Bible Lucifer AKA the Devil AKA Satan goes about throughout the earth like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. According to the Bible the result of a life lived in sin, or rebellion against God's way, is death.

OK, how do I get free from this sin stuff? According to the Bible, God had a plan from the beginning that would break the power of the curse of sin and thus would allow for people that are held captive in sin to be set free. According to the Bible God's plan is called the gospel which simply means the good news. According to the Bible, the good news is that while we were still sinners, God sent Jesus, God's only son to die for our sins on a cross and after Jesus was dead in the grave for 3 days God raised Jesus back to life. According to the Bible because Jesus had never sinned, Jesus was able to die for our sins. According to the Bible Jesus willingly died for our sins because of God's love for people. The death and resurrection of God's sinless Son broke the power of sin. According to the Bible the battle between good and evil and life and death is finished.

OK, but how does this help me, you might ask? According to the Bible, the good news is that because God fought and won the battle over sin and death through Jesus, God has offered the free gift of life to anyone willing to do things God's way. According to the Bible God's way is simply to believe that Jesus is who he said he was and to confess that he is Lord of your life.

OK, what do I need to believe about Jesus? According to the Bible, by God's intervention, Jesus being fully God came into this world being born of a virgin. According to the Bible Jesus never sinned in that Jesus never rebelled against God's authority. According to the Bible Jesus died on a cross as the penalty for our sins and was raised back to life on the third day. According to the Bible, Jesus said, that He, Jesus, was the only way, truth and life. Jesus said no one comes to the Father but by me. In other words Jesus said he is the only way to God and he is the only way to life.

OK, what do I need to do so that I can have life instead of death. The transformation from death to life is called salvation or simply called being saved. According to the Bible, to be saved, you simply accept God's free gift by believing who Jesus said he was and accepting Jesus as Lord of your life which simply means letting Jesus be in charge of your life. According to the Bible the gift of a new life is a free gift from God. According to the Bible this is good news because there is no way that you can do anything that would allow you to earn salvation on your own. Basically salvation is offered as a free gift that can be received by simply asking Jesus to be in charge of your life. This offering of the gift of life which we did not deserve is called grace.

OK, Jesus said he was the only way to God but what about all the other ways to God. Remember according to the Bible Jesus said that He was the only way and Jesus said that He is God. Also remember that sin caused separation from God and that sin leads to death and that sin is simply not doing things God's way. According to the Bible wide is the way that seems right unto a man but it leads only to death and destruction. Narrow is the path that leads to life. God is the creator of all that there is, which includes people. God as the creator, is in charge and God is the final authority, period. This simply means that the outcome of some things has been predefined and cannot change. For example, God said the only way to get to God is through Jesus. So no mater what anyone says they believe or they want, what God has said does not change. To try to get to God by any method other than the way that God has said means you are not doing things God's way. Remember to not do things God's way is called sin which leads to separation from God and death and destruction.

OK, I have decided to ask Jesus to be in charge of my life, now what. First let me say welcome to the family of God. As for the transformation from death to life, known as salvation or being saved, which is often called being born again, it is complete. According to the Bible by turning your life over to Jesus, you have been saved and all of your sins have been forgiven and you are already made new. According to the Bible that means that the separation between you and God is closed and your relationship with God can begin to grow.

To grow in your new relationship with God you need to spend some time with God getting to know God. According to the Bible you can talk to God, which is called praying to God, at anytime, and anywhere. According to the Bible God says if you desire wisdom ask God and he will freely give you wisdom. So a good place to start is to ask God to teach you to know God and to teach you to hear God's voice. According to the Bible God already knows us completely but we need to learn to know God and to hear his voice. The good news is that God will teach you. According to the Bible, the Bible which is called scripture is good for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, so that the person following after God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. So ask God to help you to find a Bible and start reading it. According to the Bible God says that we are supposed to be in fellowship with other believers and that we are to be active in doing good works. So begin asking God to show you where God wants you to serve and to fellowship. According to the Bible, as part of what is called the new covenant, God promised that he would write his laws on our hearts. The good news is that God is both willing and able to teach you and give you the wisdom that you need to live your life. Remember, God said if you want wisdom then ask God.

According to the Bible God says that there is nothing and there is no one that can separate you from the love of God. God says that God is your protector, your provider and many other things which God will teach you and make real to you as you journey though your new life. This journey through the new life is called sanctification which is simply the process of God growing you and God shaping you according to God's will for your life. Your main part of this process is to grow in trusting God as you learn to seek God more. The good news here again is you do not have to figure out how to do it or even what to do. Instead just continue to ask God to teach you and guide you and to help you to learn to trust God. The rest is up to God. This is the same God that has no limits and is more than willing and able to do exceedingly beyond anything that you can imagine.

If I can be of any help just drop me an email. The reality is that just as the Bible says, all of creation points to Jesus and all of scripture points to Jesus, so the best thing that I can do for anyone is to point them to Jesus.

Have A Blast!!!
